Ethics in publishing
Ethics is becoming a very important theme in research and is an integral part of any European Research proposal. I will
focus mostly on ethics in publishing. That would be the role of authors (and co-authors) as well of that of the reviewers.
I will also briefly touch on the role of funding agencies (and departments) as well as the publishers (editors), but the main
emphasis is on authors and reviewers. Laws are often considered to be "solidified" ethical rules and since laws can differ
greatly from country to country so can ethical rules and rules of proper conduct. When we are talking about ethics in science,
we are trying to apply "universally" valid values, which are globally accepted in the scientific community.
