Synthesis and characterization of luminescent nanoparticles for application in supramolecular systems
The project consists of the synthesis, structural and spectroscopic characterization and further modifications of hexagonal upconverting nanoparticles (UCNPs) of NaYF4:Yb3+,Er3+/Tm3+ which possess high light emission efficiency in the visible region when excited in the infrared. Gold nanorods (AuNRs) will be synthesized and characterized as well, and like the UCNPs, will be used in the construction of sensors and host/guest systems through the concomitant development of doctorate and postdoctoral projects, as well as international collaborations.
